A7V: Full size WOODEN MODELS
Permalink Closed

I just acquired a postcard showing two wooden A7V in a field somewhere. They look like full size models.

Are they early prototypes designed to show the size of the final machine?
Are they wooden mock up designed to mislead enemy intelligence?
Any idea?

Hello Eric

I have two photo’s depicting the same wooden A7V’s, One is identical to yours, the other slightly different. On the back written in German, of the second photo, it states these wooden tanks were for training, before the real A7V’s arrived.

That’s all I know.

All the Best

Tim R

PS nice collection on your site, this French beauty is a rare Gem! (Attached Photo)

Interesting....pre-deployment units for testing purposes.
That is a concept they used again later on with fake training tanks in Russia to bypass the Versailles treaty.
I am just posting on my site the latest and most original acquisition. I have a huge collection...only tanks, armored vehicles, some armored trains, and horse back riding soldiers.
The A7V "obsession" came later and I posted al my postcards on the home page.
Did you see the Afghan FT17?
