History and Color Profiles in John Prigent's PANZERWAFFE: Vol. 1
Permalink Closed

I was surpised to see that John Prigent's book PANZERWAFFE: Vol. 1 had a large section on WW1. I was thinking of buying the book. Has anyone had a chance to read the text? Has anyone seen the color profiles? Jentz and Doyle are credited with providing the drawings on which the profiles are based.

Best Regards,

Chris Ballance

I provided this text and I can assure that it is up-to-date in terms of research of the German armoured formations 1917-21.
As to the art work: The Mk.IV "Lotte" is based on colour suggestions I provided for "Liesel" of the same detachment, therefore very close to the real thing, as far as I can tell.
The A7V 527 is another matter. As far as I can tell it went into action in a monochrome colour on June 1st, 1918, the picture chosen as example shows it in 1919. So, probably that outer layer of colour was already gone - and the colours used at Villers-Bretonneux shone through. (Abt.1 used camouflage colours at V.-B.)

I was also wondering about this book. Does it include information about the testing at Kazan and between-war developments (with photos smile.gif?
