Germans DID use French Tanks!

The Discussion initiated by Tim Rigsby proved very fruitful. The German DID use captured French Tanks.

See http://www.landships.freeservers.com/french_tanks_in_germanservice.htm There you will find a photo, kindly supplied by Steve Zaloga, showing a Schneider CA.1 used by the Germans, and knocked out while in their service.

Dear all!

In the book Beutepanzer im Ersten Weltkrieg by Fred Koch I found a (bad) picture of a St Chamond that might show Pas Kamerad. The Author says that the tank was only used for trials. The French 7,5 cm gun was replaced by a Belgian 5,7 cm gun and one Hotchkiss mg by a 13 mm Tankgewehr. There is also a (bad) Photo of this conversion.

PS very interesting picture of the captured Schneider. Thanks to Steven Zaloga!

There is a picture of what appears to be a German crew and their St Chamond on the excellent French tank site; http://www.chars-francais.net/sommaire.htm.
