Just added to a topic in the modeling section about rubber tracks but could not add vital pictures because i needed an url to add them, which is a bit of a pain, i normaly browse my pictures and paste in place like you do on ebay and other sites.

Can anyone enlighten me about urls and what to do, i did do this many years ago but have clearly forgotton.

If the pictures are already posted somewhere online, and are not marked as "private", here's what you do:

at the spot where you want your pic to appear you type [ img]

and then you paste in the url of the pic (not the page)

and then you type [ /img]

with no gaps

I've had to separate the above lines, and put gaps inside the square brackets, because the page recognises the code and then looks for a pic to put in. But you should not put any gaps in.

How do you get the url of the pic, not the page? Right click on the picture and choose Properties from the shortcut menu. In the middle of the Properties dialogue box is "Address (URL)". Select the whole address, (beginning http and ending with something like .jpg or .gif) and copy it to your clipboard. That is what you drop in to your post between the img tags (in square brackets).

Would i need to use photo bucket as my pictures are not online.

You can upload pictures direct from your computer.  Check the "Attach File(s)" box below the edit box where you type your text.  This opens up another dialog box where you can browse for up to 10 files (pictures) at a time.  You then have new links "Attached: Upload files dialog.PNG [remove] [insert]" and you can choose [insert] to place the images within the text area of your post.  That dialog box looks like:

Upload files dialog.PNG

Or you can leave files as an attachment at the bottom of your post.

Replicated posts removed.
