German 10.5cm Le FH16 Howitzer Walkaround
Permalink

These photos of a 1918 built 10.5cm LeFH16 Howitzer were taken at Fort Nelson, near Portsmouth, England - if interested I can send larger copies (happy to send them in for the Landships II website too)

Arguably they should have used the flag of Imperial Germany on that "All Quiet on the Western Front?" sign, rather than the modern-day one.

A nice series of photos, Rob, but I'm seeing the little blue box with a question mark where pics 1 and 5 should be; is this so for everyone?

Images 1 & 5 ok for me (Chrome browser on Mac OS X).

The footrests on the axle tree seats are folded up for some reason. The wooden seats for the loader and gunner are a bit strange - the original was a leather seat cushion probably

stuffed with horse hair.

I can use the images of the FK 96 n.A and lFH 16 on Landships II.

Regards,

Charlie

Charlie, will send the photos later. Regarding the seat footrests, I wonder if they were put up for moving to the new indoor area the howitzer is in (built a couple of years ago), and either forgotten to be put down at all, or the display board put in place and then realising there wasn't clearance to lower the footrests and hoped no one would notice... Will check an old photo of the howitzer I have
