The rain still hadn't washed away the snow from Polygon Wood yesterday morning, managed to spot four bunkers, believe there are five in total?

One of two 1917 New Zealand built bunkers

German? Bunker in the centre of the wood more or less

Good photos. I didn't know there were bunkers in the woods. Just shows that proper research is better than relying on a single guidebook.
The western front in the snow would certainly be an alternative take on a battlefield visit.

Which book did you use? I used the 'Polygon Wood' one by Nigel Cave, since my copy was written the bunkers are easier to access with dedicated paths to them now, did miss one or two bunkers elsewhere in the book though

The Holts' Battlefield Guide, Western Front North. It's very good, but a summary so it's worth having more than one reference source (and doing some reading in advance).
We use their 'North' and 'South' guides with itineraries by battle/campaign; on the whole they're very good.
There's no substitute to homework in advance, though, to back the guide books up.
