What color(s) would be alright for the Hat WW I German field wagon? I am thinking of painting it H78. What colors would the cover and horse harnesses be painted? Thanks in advance.

Not sure of the shade of H78, but any 'field grey' i.e a medium grey with a small amount of green would be fine. Not too dark. I think slightly lighter shades work better in braille scale. I've seen lots of period film , especially from the eastern front where the covers look surprisingly pale, almost white, but others have been darker. In all cases they seem to be paler than the wagon body. I'd go for a pale beige or greyish-white. I would suggest a dark brown for the harness. I don't think the blackening of leather equipment extended to horse harness and if it did black would look to stark for well-used leather in this scale. I hope this helps. It would be good to hear some other opinions too. I haven't had the opportunity to tackle my Hat wagons yet.

John is kind enough to say what shades of paint he used.

Nice one PDA and John. Very thorough tutorial there. That was what I meant to say!

Maybe these can be of some help... they are from an unrestored German wagon.
