Having spent the last few weeks working with Wayne's MkI paper model, redrawing and redesigning it into a number of different guises (see my earlier post), I was really wanting to try and have a go at designing something from scratch - nothing do complex, just something to cut my teeth on!
Having been following the build by Crashandbern of the Flying Elephant (1st design), I though I'd like to have a go at designing and building the 2nd (final) design of the Flying Elephant (primarily because the curves were much easier to complete in paper!)
Anyway, here's the results of the first build. A little of work to do on it (and to incorporate into build two) but, all in all, I'm pretty pleased with the result.
I changed the machine guns from the proposed Lewis gun (which, in paper, looked more like a small artillery piece) to something like a Vickers, but otherwise the tank is based on Roger Todd's drawings (which can be seen in the article on the Flying Elephant on this forum).
