Mk I's without steering tail

I'm building Takom's Mk I Male as HMLS 'Sir Archibald' in Gaza.  This means omitting the steering tail from the model, but that in turn leaves two holes on the inner faces of the rear horns.  Does anyone know if the holes were covered over and if so, by what?
