Last year I got a call from a private museum who'd like to have a new saluting cannon according to a 7,7cm lFK.

Having spent a lot of time with researches I've finally finished the breech. The owner of the museum is happy, and so am I.

Now we can proceed.....

Beautiful work on the breech ring and breech block.  Obviously, it functions very well.  I am curious though, which artillery piece was it based on?  It is quite different from a 7,7cm lFK 1896 n/A.  Notice the breech handle is fitted into the breech block verses having it on the top of the breech ring. 

These are the two 7,7cm lFK 96 n/As I have recently restored.  I only have one firing now but should have the second one operational this summer:

In the USA, when you connect the barrel to the breech ring it requires Federal Registration on an artillery piece of this type. Does your work require registration?

In Germany we are not allowed to have any functioning original artillery. They are very very strict with war weapons over here. So the only thing you can do is to deactivate it completely, ie. make it not working at all (welding the breech, cutting the barrel etc.). 

The only exception is to build a saluting cannon: with a smooth barrel and max. caliber of 80mm (since this year.) Those saluting cannons have to be approved by the state house after being built and from there on every five years.

I construct and build saluting cannons which are adapted to original cannons always depending on the wishes of my customers. When doing this I adapt the historic systems to modern  manufacturing methods and if necessary I simplify them a bit (eg for reasons of costs ;) ).

I actually wanted to build the original breech for the lFK, however the customer wanted to have it slightly different, so I put the handle and the safety lock as it had been used on an 10cm Austrian M8 Gebirgshaubitze.

Thanks for the explanation. At first I thought it might have been from the WW2 Era, 10,5cm lFH 18 breech system, but the Austro-Hungarian 10cm makes sense.  It is fantastic work.
