Just finished this tonight. Takom's rendition of the Tadpole. Added better nut detail to the suspension, rebuilt the stowage bin from scratch to make it more to scale (thin sheet metal rather than sthink steel plate!). I also totally rebuilt the exhaust system from brass tube. Painted in Tamiya XF82 to represent the Battleship Grey used  on the originals. Not sure how many were ever fitted with the mortar on the rear, so decided to leave it off.

Hello Gary,

great build! You have got an eye for the details! Two details I want to write about .....

The hatch for the rear observation cuppola looks to narrow. When you have used the kits hatch it is to narrow. Look at some of the pictures of this hatch, in reality it overlaps at the sides. An easy fix on future/other models with some pieces of evergreen.

Looking at the model I noticed a detail I had not yet noticed on other models.

Can you explain what it is and was it on other Mk IV tanks?

What is that.png

Best regards,

Willem

Hi Willem. Unfortunately I had already applied paint when I found out about the hatch. Something I will correct on future builds. As for the part you highlight. Radiator filler. I read on this site it was moved from the rear to the roof on later vehicles due to a radiator redesign. Gary

Great job on the build and excellent paint work.
