Some Landships II proposed changes
Permalink

Landships II has been trundling along without any changes to the underlying code base for years now.

I think it's time to think about how the website could be upgraded. There are a couple of things I'd like

to do - these are:

1. Split the mortar articles from the artillery section and put it in its own section. You don't have to be a leading

expert on WW1 to realise how important mortars were on the Western front. Doing this may also encourage people

to write articles on the mortars although I'm not going to hold my breath in expectation.

2. Change the menu software in all the sections of the website so it's the same as the "Models" section - this works

well in modern browsers. It probably is time to discontinue support for marginal browsers like Microsoft's products

which seem to have problems with CSS menus. (Microsoft browsers currently are less than 2% of traffic on Landships II).

If there are any other suggestions for reasonable changes to Landships II please add them to this thread.

Regards,

Charlie

Can the ability to copy and paste, or drag photographs into a post be turned on (if it exists in this software)

That isn't a feature I've thought about - the Crome and Firefox browsers offer copy and save options for images,

Firefox also has a mail image as well on the right click menus.

Landships II doesn't use a CMS (content management system) - it's all handcoded html, Javascript, Ajax and CSS.

Regards,

Charlie
