Hi, does anyone know what the serial number on this Mk V (or is it a Mk V star) tank is ? It looks like 960 ????   to me it looks like  "¢" I can't discern it . On another rote, are the colors of the Ying-Yang white-black ? or ?  Thanks.

It’s “4”

9604

and the color of the Ying-Yang is seem to be White-Black as you said

because white part of the British army marking that painted on the left is same with the color of bright part of the Ying-Yang

if the Ying-Yang color was following the Irish symbol “Orange-Green”, it couldn’t be bright like in the picture

9604 with the yin-yang on both horns and W-R-W stripes was used as a backdrop for several 301st Tank Bn. group photos, most taken in October and November 1918 (several appear in "Co. A, Treat 'em Rough" a post-war unit history of Co. A, 301st Tank Bn.)

Interestingly, I can find NO reference to 9604 as having served the 301st!

I have wondered if Webb's tank hasn't been mis-recorded. He piloted 9004 during the Sept-Oct battles according to the battlegraphs. For example, Webb is shown as piloting 9004 on October 17, 1918, two days prior to 9004 listed as crewed by Cpl McNaughton's No. 12 crew, 3 Section, "A" Coy, 10th Battalion.  I wonder if something is amiss?

I have wondered this, but not researched it!

Treat 'em rough.
