War department numbers
Permalink

I am searching for decals of war department numbers.

On my search I found thse from Archer. Anyone has any experience with these?

Are they the right size and shape to fit on a 1:35 Mark IV or Mark V tank?

http://www.archertransfers.com/AR35084W.html

OAR35084W.gifr is there another source?

Hope to hear,

best regards,

Willem

What exactly numbers for Mk.IV and Mk.V you need? Do you have pictures?

Hello Denis,
I am looking for the numbers that were painted on the sides of the tanks. I think they call them "war department numbers" (but i am not sure of that name).
I am not looking for a specific vehicle (yet) but with five ww1 tanks on the shelf, ready to be painted, i want a sheet with numbers with which i can make any numbercombination that was painted on the tanks. I have looked at your new penguin site but i have seen just sheets with specific tanks and sheetts with numbers but they are for Russian modern tanks i believe.
These are the kind of numbers i am looking for:

Hello Wilhelm!
I learned a lot of pictures with the numbers you write about. And I came to the conclusion that these figures are similar to different tanks, but they have some differences in outlines and in sizes. I can make a special decal for you on an Alps printer with such an averaged set of numbers. But if you want, tell me the specific numbers and I'll make a specific decal. It will be more convenient for you. You do not have to cut every number.

Hello Denis,
Thanks for that offer, much appreciated!
I will look into the numbers i want for the tanks and then i will come back to you.
I still have to order the decal set for the supply tanks so that will be in the same order.
Thanks and i will contact you later this week,
Best regards,
Willem

Just a quick note that Mark V 9277 and Mark V* 9752 were used for experimental purposes in the UK and never went to France.

Hello Gwyn,

thank you for your warning but i am aware of that fact.

I have made models them both:

9277 with the tadpole attachment and

9752 without its rails as seen on the pictures of the IWM.

Thanks!

Willem
