Lodestar III during WW2
Permalink

Hello;

Seeing as how Mk IV tanks on display in France were scrapped by the Germans in WW2, I'm wondering how Lodestar III avoided a similar fate in Belgium. Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks!

I have an article in French on the history of Lodestar III. Unfortunately my French isn't great. A friend offered to translate but it's yet to see the light of day.

I suspect it was all down to the attitude of the local German authorities. I understand that one senior Nazi officer was so impressed with the museum he ordered the donation of a collection of Pickelhaubel that filled a gap in the Museum's collection.

Thanks James. I'll recover it from my friend - no criticism of her, her life is very busy - but we shan't see each other until next week.
