Do you have any photographs of WW1 A company tanks with Triangle markings on the side?

Craig, are you specifically looking for A Company (i.e. prior to Dec. 1916), as opposed to A Battalion tanks?

"Deborah" has a triangle marking on both sides, but it's not an indication it was in A Company. In November 1917, Companies had ordinal numbers, not letters. This changed in 1918.

Thorst and I debated this when working on the Guy Martin programme. Our interpretation is that the triangle on "Deborah" is the Greek letter Delta for D Battalion. Unfortunately there is a dearth of photographs of other D Battalion tanks at Cambrai.

Thanks, Gwyn that is very informative. I had not seen that photo before. Do you believe there was a D 51 painted on the horns as well?

No there wasn't. Only on the fuel tank spaced armour.

Hello All
The Triangle painted on Deborah is referring to the Infantry division she was fighting with.
Best Regards
Olivier
