77mm Feldkanone (?) picture
Permalink

Hello,

by chance I got a postcard with the picture attached. It shows a field gun emplacement. I'm absolutely no expert with artillery equipment, but going through the different guns on landships II, I guess that this is a 77mm Feldkanone. The back of the postcard is marked with "Feuerst.1.Battr.RFA,R.46", according to the seller, it means "Feuerst. 1. Battr. Feldartillerie Rgt. 46 Wolfenbüttel".

Can someone confirm my assumption that this is a 77mm Feldkanone? Also, I'd be interested if someone knows more about the picture. I think it would be ideal for being translated into a diorama.

Best regards,

Thorsten

Yes, the photo is a German 7,7cm l.F.K. 1896 n/A or what is commonly known as a 7,7cm Feldkanone.  This is a link for my web page with identification drawings and photos of this gun type. Also below is a link for identification for all German Field Artillery in the WW1 Era and after that a link for the page on identification of all Foot Artillery in the WW1 Era:

And these are two pages on the two 7,7cm lFK 96 n/A that I have recently restored to operational condition in my collection:

http://www.lovettartillery.com/7.7cm_leichte_Feld_Kanone_(l.F.K.)_1896_n_A_(1917).html

and the 7,7cm lFK 96 Limber in my collection that I am still restoring:

This is the ammunition of the type around the gun in the photo:

Hope this helps
