Records at The National Archives show that following the First World War, the War Office received a request to sell three Mk IX supply tanks to a Mr A. Edm. Hansen of Berterbrogade 126, Copenhagen, Denmark for an expedition to Greenland.
There was an issue about selling tanks to a non-allied power, but this was overcome it seems as they weren't armed. But the file doesn't make clear if the sale actually proceeded.
Does anyone know if it did? And if so, whether the Mk IXs reached Greenland and how they fared? Finally, the holy grail: anyone got their serial numbers?
