re: New publication on French artillery

I just bought a copy of the new "Histoire et Collections" publication, "Les canons de la victoire" by Pierre Touzin (whose work on French AFVs is essential to anyone who wants a command of AFV development in France) and Francois Vauvillier, volume three in the new series "Les Materiels de l'armee francaise" via Amazon.fr for around $15. It is notable for its superb color illustrations as well as a wealth of (for the most part) never before seen photos of Frances artillery during the First World War, from the 75mm mle. 1897 field gun up to the "mortier de280 mle. 1914 S" (Schneider). It also has a detailed study of the quantities of each type of gun available at different periods during the war. An upcoming volume will cover the super heavy guns, including rail guns. Brush up on your French, because these volumes may never be translated into English as have some of H&Cs other excellent publications.

Thaks for the mini-review, Sash. I'd seen the cover in a magazine advert and  wondered how useful it might be. You've convinced me to get it!
