There is a photo at the AWM (Photo No. C04889) showing a Mk IV supply tank. As far as I can make out, its WD number is 6043. Does anyone know whether 6043 was in fact a supply tank or the actual WD number of this tank? Thanks in advance.
6043 was a tank of C Section, 3 Tank Carrier Coy on 8 August 1918. It was commanded by Cpl. J. Richards.
I suspect, but cannot yet prove, that this tank was built as a tank tender rather than being a converted fighting tank. This is based on my observation of an apparent sequence of tenders numbered from about 6040 to about 6120.
Thank you Gwyn, it answers the question perfectly. I wanted to convert Emhar's Mk IV male to a supply tank and base it on the photo but couldn't be sure of the number, although my second choice of 6048 would probably be just as valid.
