Ok, bit of a weird one, but does anyone have any photos of tank crew members (or any AFV/softskin of WWI for that matter) with a pet dog, ie relaxing in the rear line etc?

Cheers, Rob

I could have sworn I've seen more (A st Chamond driving through a town) but this is the only one I could find quickly:

rob,

the film that J mentions is posted on my youtube page. Incidentally, so is a Rolls Royce film.

and i would guess that if you looked up the US marines in WW1 you would see loads of dogs - they have some sort of affinity or tradition for pets, apparantly!!

the 'America Goes Over' films show a lion with a flying unit. I think thats the Lafayette squadron.

This one fits the description exactly. From the IWM, captioned "Tank officers relaxing around a gramophone player, with their pet dogs, in camp at Poperinghe."

Thanks guys. Philthydirtyanimal, great youtube page - the Mk VIII Internationals look pretty fast, at least compared to other British heavy tanks of WWI!
