Ford 3-Man put to use.

I think it was Tim R who enquired about the 3-Man a while back.

I finally got hold of a copy of Fred Crismon's book on US tracked vehicles and came across this, which I didn't notice when I had the brief loan of a copy.

Caption reads, in part:

The carrier for this early army crane (1924) was known as either the Mk VIII Caisson Tractor or Tractor, Crane, 10-ton, Tractor Caterpillar. A Holt 10-ton Artillery Tractor was the source of many of the components for this crane, including the engine, basic drive train, and chassis. It is seen here lifting a Ford 3-Man Tank.

Don't know if you've got this, Tim.

An Apology. Later that same day . . . .

On closer examination, I don't think that's a 3-Man at all. More like a 2-Man/3-Ton.

I'm most dreadfully sorry. It must be a misprunt. Someone once said, "Always mistrust captions."
