The "Mother" of all machine guns....

Hello All,
As i announced a long time ago... She`s ready -but not able to fire !

     An homage to the genius of Richard Jordan Gatling who wanted
      only make war impossible by inventing a gun for mass-killing....

 We all now what he pushed on....

My "scratch" builded 1:1 model of a Gatling type -"Camel" version .
It's the Gat with shortened barrels to make a light type for jusing on
camel fitted units. I builded it with 6 tubes Cal. 45 at the false muzzle.
Angle gear driven as the original but a little bit modifyded lock-system.
I took three Patent-writings together to seek the best way for making it
working nearly as the original.
It has a length of 91 cm over all , weight 62 pounds ( 31kg ) The massive steel basement has a weight of 40pounds (20kg )
Made complete of good Thyssen-Krupp steel . The lock-case is from a
inox -tube for chemical use. 4mm “strength. The ejector spring is here
for the job of the firing pin spring -otherwise i get trouble with the weapon-rule
here in germany. So it pushes a 10 mm thick pin to sledge on a drum
whitch is in original the transporter-drum for the cartridges.
makes a "beautifull" noise by turning the lever.biggrin
I have only to add the savety-unit than it's "ready"
Sadly i must sell it for paying some bills .....cry

Fantastic work! What a shame that (a) it doesn't fire (could have done with it for my old boss); and (b) you have to sell it... cry

So come on, when are you posting photos of that 1:1 scale Gamma Moerser that I just know you're working on? wink

Eduardo,

let me tell that to modell in originalmeasurements with original material is not very heavy.

But building war matrial in 1:35 in resin,wood and so on is a miracle for me.

After building some war-ship gun turrets in "heavy-duty" i will go for another

"BiG " project. Maybe -have to research alittle bit the 1:1 modell turret of

a revitet Renault FT-17 . But only with 2mm tin plates. Hope i can get the rivets .

You must know i repaired my HYpertherm-plasma cutter . Now he's running again through

my steel-plates like a hot knife in butter again.

Before questions comes : Yes ihave tubes for the cannon even to a wall-strongness to 40mm

The turret will be put on a little bunker like the cast-ones in WWII

How says Ironsides -nothing is impossible-only very unlikely !!!

And don`t send this white car with the men and their special -jackets.....
