A fitting tribute to the WW1 horses by General Patton while serving with the U.S Cavalry after WW1.
THE WAR HORSES ------------------- Where are they now,the horses who fought for us in France, The horses of the limber and the gun? They shared our toil and triumph and they shared our joy and pain, But we left them, yes,we left them every one.
I can see them still, all shivering, with their rumps set to the rain, On the muddy cheerless horse lines of the front. They did'nt make a murmur and they took the worst that came, And when they died, they did'nt even grunt.
