There is a book in the Bronnekollektsia series on the Austin (and its subsequent Russian and Soviet incarnations) with scale plans, it is very good. You may find it as a scanned PDF on one of the torrent sites, not sure that it is available otherwise.

Many thanks can't get onto the sight must be me!!!
Having looked at photo's of the British Austis it looks as if the hatch was "flat" and not domed like the Russian ones also the hatch doesn't appear to be hinged there are no photo's with crewe visible with a hinged hatch. Could they have been a sliding fit????

All Austin armoured cars of 1st, 2nd and 3rd series was in England built for Russian Military Ministerium only, all was built of a project from Russian Military Automobile school.

Last Austin (4 serie) was also for Russia. Russian revolution don't let this car to Russia, so comming there in Britosh army.

Pictures of the hatches open are hard to find.

However, I think that in this video

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=grXrWlrdF2c

it can be seen that the hatches are hinged. If the machine gun is facing forward, the hatch opens so as to shield the person opening it, ie the hinge is along the forward edge. At least that is what I think I see.
