The funeral took place yesterday of Bill Stone, one of the last three Great War veterans surviving in the UK.

It reminded me of something I heard on the radio on the day his death was announced. They did a phone-in on R5 about people's thoughts on the subject, and I heard the tail-end of a gent saying that he was a descendant of a Tank officer who committed suicide during the War. I didn't catch his name, but I can only assume he was talking about Col. John Brough, whose death features in Christy Campbell's book Band of Brigands.
