Stunningly, what can be archieved with photoshop! Here the same vehicle (btw. it is No 540) on a plain field near Wasnes-au-Bac, where it was abandoned in October 1918.

Cheers,

Peter

I have no doubt that this is a fake! For example look at the track link on the top. It seems to be glued onto the vehicle. Otherwise it would have fallen off, when the tank slipped into the trench. Compare the two photos! Everything, position of the gun, porthole, door etc remained in the same position!

You are right Peter!

I did a closer look at it and the part between the trench and the bottom front of the tank lokks a little bit .... odd.

I have just done it with the Guido's forum photo.
It's the same photo, and it's very easy to do it with photoshop

..interesting,... however, there remains a troubling visual issue;  the vehicle lodged in the trench system has the running gear missing.   One can not detect so much as a boggie wheel that should be exposed.  You will note the ground & debris can be seen under the side armour where the running gear should be visible.  The photo shopping was just a tad extreme!

Peter: But, following Schneider/Strasheim page 34, it must be Wagen 503, not Wagen 540 "Heiland":

Schneider/Strasheim is more than 20 years old - and thus a little bit antiquated.
This tank is 540.

This is very troubling...why and who faked this photo? Efforts like this are extremely disrupting to scholarship.
