I am a new member and I am in the process of laying down lines for a 1/6 scale, radio controlled Mk.IV. I was conducting research when I came across your sight. It is wonderful. I have searched the site and other sources and I still have two questions.
1) Is there any scale drawings of a MK IV. I have a drawing for a Mk V or is this accurate enough.
2) Track Link Pitch...I have the track link system diagram provided by Roger Todd but I still have a question. Does the 7.5" track pitch remain the same for each model tank or does the pitch increase accordingly for the width.
You won't get better tank drawings (apart from factory originals) than those drawn by Dick Harley. Dick shows in the drawing you've posted the track width increasing but no changes in pitch. If there had been any change I've no doubt he would have drawn it. Actually from my knowledge I don't think there was any change, but perhaps someone else will confirm that.
I have the attached set of lines I obtained from a previous threat on your forum of a Mk V. I would rather try to recreate a Mk IV, so here is my question.
Beyond the obvious external differences,(copola / rear end construction) were the two machines basically the same (over simplified)?
There are many detail differences, for instance around the cab. There are also detail differences in the sponsons. In my mind they are different tanks, but as I don't make models I don't perhaps see things as you would.
I would recommend you write to The Tank Museum at Bovington to see if they can supply Mark IV drawings for you.
