Im new to this forum and I am hoping someone may have blueprints or engineering drawings of the mk iv. tank. I scratchbuild in a large scale and its difficult finding these for this vehicle. I am very willing to pay what it takes to secure some decent blueprints, I have researched the mk 1v, photographed, websearched etc but for an accurate build there is no substitute for blueprints. I do have some sectioned illustrations, but Im am looking for as much information as a I can gather. Also, would it be foolish to ask if there was ever a TM / Operator's or workshop manual ever issued for same? Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.
You could try Bovington for drawings. I've found that there's a lot of latitude in some of the published profile drawings and such. Arsenal / manufacturer's drawings would be best.
Thanks gentlemen...I have ordered the relevant books from MRLS books. I also recently found a set of (rather sketchy, but still useful for smaller scale modelling) from Bovington archives. I also read that Aberdeen Proving Ground Museum have also been doing CAD/3D records prior to moving their 'Liberty' Mk IV for extensive restoration....but I imagine access to the data would be limited.
I will keep this thread posted on anything of quality that I turn up.
I've never had much luck with Aberdeen. They used to offer scale and arsenal prints of several dozen tanks and vehicles, but won't even run a copy if you own the vehicle! I couldn't beg a copy set of M7 snow tractor drawings from them for any money. I know it's a BIG problem running them over to the engineers on base and getting copies.... argh.
The Landships of Lincoln by Richard Pullen has a fairly good scale drawing but only of a side elevation has anyone got a contact for him as the quality is so good I would have thought there must be more plans.
Richard sells on ebay using the name 'bladebeater'. You would be able to send him a message through ebay - he currently has his latest book 'Beyond the Green Fields'listed for sale.
thanks for the leads. I did receive one excellent reference, called a Compendium of Tank Drawings, reprinted by MRLS books. It covers good 'general arrangement' drawings of Mk1V & Mk v (very good ones for this type) through to the C type tank. Highly recommend it. I picked up the maint. manuals for the mk !V and V as well from this publisher, these are text-heavy and explain in detail general service and replacement procedures, eg track removal under own power etc. I have sourced more info/drawings elsewhere and will let the forum know about these when i get my hands on them. Cheers! uncle percy
