Trackstory FT 17You beat me on this one !

I would like to point out many pictures of variants which I was not aware before, colour profiles with photo backing-up each profile...
this book covers only French use. It is indicated that a further volume will cover export and beute versions

Have just received this book, and it is good value for its comparatively modest price. Not a great deal that is absolutely new, but one or two items of interest, including a pic I hadn't seen before of an FT and the Peugeot side by side.

As JC says, there are several pics of unusual post-War prototypes and of the limited actions of WWII. There is also the intriguing comment that the FT's career ended in the 1950s, but it seems that that part will be covered in Volume 2.

The English text has been translated in a rather stilted way, but is perfectly comprehensible. The only slightly awkward aspect for the English-speaking reader is that the original French is written in the Present Historic rather than the Past Historic, and the English text is therefore all in the Present Tense, which seems strange at first. It wouldn't have been very difficult to  put it in the Simple Past with which English speakers are more familiar. As our French friends will know, French and English tenses don't always have a direct equivalent in the other language.

I shall be pleased to hear what Michel, François, et al think of it.

Bonjour James,

It is a very good book (even if for me, French's tank history was only from 1916 to 1918 - nothing before and nothing new after !).

And other very good topic on renault FT (in French) from François Vauvillier. Tank Zone n°6. It's the first part and the second will probably published in the next Tank zone revue.
