Blimey. That's a completely new one on me. I suspect it's a Pavesi tractor with added hull. If you expand the photo it looks as if it's on wheels rather than tracks, with an Italian version of the Breton-Pretot wire cutters. Quite a find.

http://hi.baidu.com/kkkfj1/blog/item/bd8606cc5e45a41401e92898.html This link is from my blog. However, can anyone tell me why the "Pavesi Ansaldo" had such an odd air-cooler?

Hi kkfji, it looks to me as though the curious circular arrangement on the front is not the air cooler itself but the protective armour. This has been done as a series of round plates presumably there is slots bettween them with a progressively larger hole in the center of each allowing the air to flow easily over the radiator/cooler, it looks like theres also a Fan under this arrangement which might account for it being round, it seems like a good solution....
Cheers

A small thought on the circular plates: As Ironside says, quite possibly protection for the air intake, with the advantage that this arrangement would deflect fire as does sloped armour. Louvres (as on the front of the LKI & II) risk deflecting bullets up into the works. Makes admirable sense.

I thought I'd seen it - all I've got is another, murkier, reproduction of the same image I appear to have downloaded over three years ago (see attached).
