Has anyone any idea as to the painting scheme for the above. Obviuosly the canvas tilt would have been, well a canvas colour (??) but what about the rest of the vehicle. The usual army green with springs brake linkage in a black/grey metal colour?
Any information gratefully accepted

Not an ambulance, but here's a couple of photos I took of Nigel's GS Wagon - the GS wagon 'sans seat' at Duxford is the same, pretty much all green apart from the hub caps

Again, not an ambulance but a GS Wagon. This time its the one in the Canadian War Museum. Probably in original colours:

Here's an ALH ambulance. No doubt the image will stand a fair amount of magnification. An Australian Light Horse Field Ambulance wagon

PS - on magnification it appears the wooden parts are green, like in Rob's post.

I suggest the following links:

http://www.chakoten.dk/cgi-bin/fm.cgi?lang=dk&n=405

www.1914-1918.net/whatfieldamb.htm   This covers some organisation etc & links to more on the RAMC

Note that at the start of the war the vehicles were probably in a slightly blue Grey. As in 2 of the post cards in the 1st link show.
