7.5cm Turkish Krupp field guns
Permalink

Over on the Axishistory forum there was a list published of gun receipts by the Turkish Army from 1867-1914. Picking out the 7.5cm Krupp FK guns there seem to have been 4 purchases of the 7.5cm Krupp gun.

1905 - 462 - 7,5cm L/30 Krupp FK C/03

1909 - 90 - 7,5cm L/30 Krupp FK C/09

1911 - 88 - 7,5cm L/30 Krupp FK C/11

1914 - 54 - 7,5cm L/30 FK

Does anyone know (or can point to references) the differences between the types C/03, C/09, C/11? I think the captured guns in Australia include some examples of the later C/09 and C/11 types without these being recognized as distinct from the predominant C/03 type.

Regards,

Charlie

There no major differences specifically by year designation - visible readily by eye. There is a diference between Horse & Field Artillery types. While I believe that the Turkish Horse Artillery was virtually all either c09 or c11, the difference general to all horse artillery pieces. That is they have crew seats on the front of the gun shield, where the Turkish field guns do not!.

With their problems with transport, horse stocks etc Turkish horse artillery is realy a bit like Austrian Cavalry Batterries or a Century earlier - rapid field guns not horse artillery.

There was work done on the recoil systems, some changes of sights & I think some repositioning of the gunners in action seating. As a wargammer I mostly didn't track them as the changes were invisible or failed the 2 or 3 foot rules! Sorry!
