US camouflage suit

Hi all, a picture from the Illustrated London News, May 1918 showing a camouflaged US serviceman. As some 'old' pictures reappear again and again in books today, it might be you already seen this, if so sorry for bringing old news.

I guess they only experimented with it. The picture showed up in a few magazines, more or a less to give an impression of the new and modern allie I think.
Other sniper suits were by the way looking uncanny too, especially the hood.
This one is a British sniper.

That would certainly give you a fright! I remember seeing some film footage of soldiers in these crawling about.
