German Flat cars in WWI

I've seen a few pictures of A7Vs on flat cars, and I want to build one to put an A7V on.  Does anyone know of a kit of one of their flat cars, or one that I can convert?  I can't find much on WWI German rail stock.  I can't even find a good photo or plan with measurements.  Any kind of help would be appreciated!

Your best bet is to go on European modelling websites and look for manufacturers selling German railway rolling stock.The only problem would be the scale, the Emhar one is 1/72 and most Continental model railways are to HO scale. Matador do a kit for a British one I am not familiar with it.

Just a thougt that run through my mind: aren't there modell kits for German railway flat cars of WW2 types in 1/72? Maybe they are convertible to WW1 types?

I've seen solid wheels, and the wrong shapes.  Also, I don't know what the undersides look like.  And I don't know what the dimensions are.  The ones I've found don't really look the same.  They also don't look like they could carry an A7V!

Just a thought, are you sure the cars were of German origin ?? They could have been French or even Belgium ones.

On page 130 of Hundleby and Strasheim (I digitized my book.  I'm not bringing a $200 book to the oil rig!), the flatcar has an eagle on it.  Now, I don't know about Belgian symbols, but I'm pretty sure it is NOT a French symbol.  On another picture I found on the 'Net of Adalbert, the flat car has the city Hanover and the symbol SSml on it.  If there is a picture with a French or Belgian flatcar on it, I could build one of those, too!  Being into model railroads as much as A7V tanks, they blend well!

... I don't know what scale you're working in,  or what your budget might be,... BUT,..   Marklin of Germany makes these flat   cars in three scales: Z,  HO, and Gauge 1.    I work in the latter( 1/32 ) and have their KPEV period collection.    The "eagle"  you refer to( the Hohenzollern Adler of Prussia ) is from the Epoche 1 period of German rail history; to wit,  to the end of the Great War .    Marklin produce both a 20 - 30 ton wagen, and a larger 45 ton version.  Detail is superb with functioning buffers and complete undercarriage detail.  They are a bit costly; in Gauge 1 they sell for about $175-250 on eBay.

28juni14, I'm working in 1/72.  I've investigated a couple Marklin cars, and they ARE pricey, and not in 1/72.

Fine Scale Factory has produced a German railway flat car in 1/72 scale. It's a resin kit with the product code TL 013. I don't know if this kit is available anywhere.
