German naval guns for army use in 1914
Permalink

Just reading jager's book and other sources its clear that many heavy artillery like the 13cm, 15cm and 17cm naval guns were used by germans to compensate for long-range artillery

but none of these sources [ which are all in english for me sadly] give any numbers e.g how many guns were by 1914 or end of 1914 in such use ?
so its hard to tell if they really made a difference
does anybody have more information on this

esp the guns i am interested in are :

http://www.landships.freeservers.com/15 ... one_ir.htm
http://www.landships.freeservers.com/17 ... one_ir.htm

like the last link gives the total converted but does not give the number operational in 1914

question #2

germans had a model 1904 100mm long range gun how many were operational by 1914 ? Jaeger says 32 ONLY !

and he mentions also a 130mm long range gun does anyone have more information on how much of these were avalible

thank you

The ordnance you refer to was not introduced until mid 1916.  The first two 17cm SK L/40 "Samuel", for example, first entered service in March 1917.
