This one's for the experts... I find the lever for the visor hatch mechanism intriguing. On the interior pics of the MK IV, the handles are (or seem) right-angled and protude towards the crew. (see upper two pics in the attached image) But I have only this one source of imterior pictures showing the area clearly.
Considering the crew were not seat-belted - as far as I know- the commander and driver would have the thing sticking in their heads if the driving got rough - as I believe it always was.
The two lower pics show the lever from the Russian Mark V, where it is clear that the handle is straight along the cabin side. Makes more sense to me that way and is also easier to produce - one bend less.
Were the handles on the Mark IV levers always angled or were the straight levers also used?
By the way, the lever seems to be dislocated from the hatch axle on both these machines - because the way I understand the function would be that the lever is up on the ratchet when the main hatch is closed and in the lower position (as shown) when the window is open: see below.
