Artillery live fire video
Permalink

In the last week, several artillery pieces and anti-tank guns from my collection were recorded by Skywalker Sound firing live and blank. These sounds will be used for a new Spielberg film.I have been asked not to mention the name of the film until it comes out, however, I can say it is set in the WW1 Era and focuses largely on horses in military service.

If you click onto the first photograph of each web page you will see a streaming video of the weapon firing. These are a few links for the streaming video:

I hope these videos are enjoyed

Thanks Ralph - ah, envy, to be around those marvellous old pieces firing again. (And to have the knowledge that they're still sound enough to take it.)

Yes, I think we've discussed the film at http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?aBID=63528&p=3&topicID=38493445 - and all the more reason to look forward to its release now.

Watching the videos and hearing the firing as "experienced" by a standard camera-mounted electret microphone (flat and clipped) makes one appreciative of the work of the sound technicians, eh?
