Hi LT from what I can see the text and most images if not all are the same on Wikipeadia, also for a number of other articles I looked at of ships guns and tanks...
seems he died at 46 not suprising as he had 365 wives....( this rings a bell)
a source here for the original pic cited from wiki as NLS.. from the papers of Field Marshal Haig see note at bottom... Location Borre 20 august 1918(unconfirmed)
Osprey Heavy Artillery 1914-18 has a paragraph on these guns which would also indicate this is a MKIII. 35 MKIIIs(recuperator over barrel and limited arc of fire) and MKVs(recuperator under barrel and 360 arc of fire) were built..
MKIIs and IVs (road transported) can be found here:
This Book Railway artillery contains some good info including usefull drawings see from page 126 for British Guns...
The book describes the 12 inch Howitzer MKI and II as similar railway mounts and also the MKIII and MKV as similar.... Although Osprey as previously described says the MKI and MKIII were similar the main difference being in the length of the gun.
Cheers

I am in the process of constructing four or five model railway diorama's (1/76 scale) showing the workings of the railway system in France/Belgium during WW1. They will show the railways working from the Casualty Clearing Station to the animal and man powered tramways. The (working) diorama's (1.2m long) are intended to be individual exhibited here in Australia, with fiddle yards at either end, and connect together to be a working layout in my garage (L shaped 5.6m x 4.8m). I would very much like to include Mk 3 or Mk 5 12" Railway Howitzers on the gun spurs, with one lowered for firing and one that can be moved.
Can anyone help me with plans of the howitzers? I have the usual books and images, but don't have a plan view. My intent is to get the wagon, bogie frames, gun mount and barrel 3D printed. Though I may get the barrels machined in aluminium by a mate. Second, does anyone have experience with photogrammetry programs? Can they be used effectively with the few images of these guns to help create a CAD image/CAM?
Cheers, Hendo
