Female A7V Crew?

Came across this photo. Caption reads "Leutnant Hänsel mit seiner weiblicher Besatzung". Does this mean there was an all-female A7V crew? Is it a wartime photo or a reunion of some kind?

Definitely not wartime, the fashions are far too modern - 1950s or 1960s would be my guess which would place the men at least in their 20's during WW1

1950s rather than 60s I would have said.

No there was no WW1 version of Tank Girl

The place looks like the original place that Mephisto was displayed on the South side of the Qld museum. Mephisto was moved to the South Bank museum in 1986. My guess is that it's an image of the German team who measured Mephisto with Qld Museum helpers.

Regards,

Charlie

That would have been the very start of "dem detailgetreuen Nachbau des Sturmpanzerwagen A7V vorbei." (the faithful reproduction of the Sturmpanzerwagen A7V) at the Panzermuseum, Munster? Fascinating find James - I wonder if the respective museums have a copy?

I'm pretty sure this is one of their annual reunions.

It did cross my mind to suggest that the female members of the Tank crew are wearing the Waffenfrock.

However, I now realise that I posted the item on the day after March 31st. Hänsel is also an interesting German word.

Oooh, choice James. But it was afternoon ... (well, late night here).

And don't think you'll be forgiven for Waffenfrock anytime soon.lmao.gif

That's why I suggested it was an annual reunion.
