Ruston Proctor narrow gauge loco (Deutz) - Waltham Abbey Gun Powder Mills

I have some photos of the Ruston Proctor loco at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life.

The info board states that it is a 'direct copy of a German design' except for the engine, I haven't seen a Deutz quite the same in detail, can any of our railway experts confirm that it is a 'direct copy'?

Hi Chris,

It surely looks like a copy of the Deutz Benzollok. There were many different versions of the Deutz. Enclosed you will find my drawings of the 12 hp C XXII F version.

Hi Chris,

You're welcome... smile Enclosed you will find some pictures of different versions of the Deutz. I also did some colouring in. The colours given for German Narrow Gauge locomotives is green or light grey as overal colour, with the corner pieces painted black. The wheels are possibly red. The grafiti is of my own making... smile

      Actually, they are American troops during the push through the Argonne.  Here is another link with more plans for Duetz, Montania and Obersol Benzollokomotiven...

I do beleive Neil Moss is doing one for Meridian Models.Not too sure as to when it will be released.They are also thinking of doind German 60cm rolling stock.

Cheers - is it the German version or the UK home front one? As well as modelling the theatres of war i'm quite interested in the possibility of doing UK home front models too... just need some female munitions workers and a ton of shells!

 It looks like all Meridian Models stuff is 4mm:foot scale

My 1/76 Deutz Lokomotive 12 Pf C XII is a work in progress. The chassis is complete. But I messed up the test etch for the body. The attached photo shows all I could salvage from the etch (I had not printed a layer containing the tags attaching the half etch parts to the fret). I will send for another test etch when I've finished the WD L Type etch. Which will be shortly...
