Veteran of the Royal Navy in WW1 and the RAN in WW2 Claude Choules has died, in Perth, Western Australia at 5 AM WST, Thursday 5 May. He was the last known WW1 combatant, truly it is the end of an era.

Moving to think of what he, and his generation, lived through. Soon it will be considered odd some of us to have known them personally.

May they rest in peace, and may we learn something more than technical details from studying their stories.
