Capitaine De Poix's Armoured Vehicle.

Mentioned in passing by Malmassari, but no further details:

25 novembre, 1915: Proposition de voiture blindé du capitaine De Poix.

Don't know if it was wheeled, tracked, or another type altogether. Ring a bell?

I can confirm it was a tracked vehicle, with two symetrical turrets. A further article will be published in the French GBM magazine.

Aha.

I have now seen the article in GBM, and can report that Capitaine de Poix's tank is none other than this:

brought to our attention by Tim R almost two years ago.

From the encyclopedia of French Armour by Vauvillier:

In shape its very similar to the design of Boiralt which worked as a three vehicle 'train; with a power unit between two 'tanks'

Vollketten's observation and others take us in a couple of directions. I think I'll start separate threads for them. One is to do with the tracks of the de Poix machine and its resemblance to the Diplock, and the other with the Boirault "coupled" tanks. They're a bit interwoven.

See the Chaintrack thread here, and the Boirault thread here.
