Hi Kert,

1/72 scale zeppelin? I wish! Seriously, I very much doubt it - depending on which one, it would be anything from 7 to 10 feet long!

Sky Tech apparently made a 1/144 scale LZ-49, long out of production. This is what it says about Sky Tech:

SkyTech Models: out of business

Manufacturered airship models, 2-5 feet long, in kit and finished forms. This was, almost literally, a one-man operation. SkyTech made a number of kits for which they were the only known source. I hope they make a come-back. Last known address was a small shop in a mall: 2373 N.W. 185th, No. 290, Hillsboro, OR 97124 USA.

Otherwise, the largest I've seen are some rather fine card models, though nowhere near 1/72 scale (I have a 1/200 scale 'Hindenburg' which I bought from the Zeppelin Museum shop! Haven't built it, though...).

Some ten years ago there was a chap in Germany with too much time on his hands: he built himself an excellent 1:72 Zeppelin and showed it on the annual Modelshow in Dortmund. The year after that he showed he still had enough time, as he had started a wooden hanger for the monster! I wish I had had a camera with me that day...

As far as I know he did see that what he had built was a bit too big for his house (for anyones house, I guess) and reportedly the model is now in the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen, the best place for it to be actually.

Speaking of Great War zeppelins, I bought 'Hell's Angels' on DVD the other day - only the most awesome zeppelin-bombing-London sequence ever filmed! Twenty minutes of sheer brilliance!
