My turn to ask for a gun to be ideed!

This little chap is situated infront of the harbour on the island of Kefalonia, in the Greek Ionian Islands.

I'm guessing it's of WW1 vintage, looks about 75mm calibre, no visible markings on the weapon.

Hiya,

This is a 7,5cm Gebirgskanone 15 built by Skoda for the Austro-Hungarian Army. The Germans also used it for their mountain troops, as well as for their Infantrie Geschütz batteries.

With kind regards,

-Arie.

Arie, you're a marvel.
I was thinking "Mountain Gun" myself, with the shield being in two pieces.

Adam

I think it is a later model, the 1928 perhaps:

I think it is a later model, possibly the 1928 and not WW1 vintage:

There is another example of this gun at the Athens War Museum

Both are probably ex-German/Italian weapons captured from the Yugo Army in 41....

Both Adam's gun and the one on Wikipedia have their inner barrel potruding. Is that a particular feature of the 1928 model?

Yes - the M15 gun had an L/15 barrel, the M28 L/18 - since the carriage and receiver were similar between the two guns the longer barrel protruded in front of the recoil assembly.

Regards,

Charlie

The 1928 model was delivered to at least Colombia and Yugoslavia and apparently came with a 9cm barrel as extra option...

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of these changes. Regards, Pat
