Interesting Pictures. Check it out!
Permalink Closed

I was just cruising google, inputing different image searches and sifting through the results. I am sure you guys have seen a lot of this, but I found it very interesting.

Polish site:
http://w4u.am.lodz.pl/~piokas/texty/pkpol.html
Bottom of the page, there is a really strange AFV, apparently from 1918. Anyone else ever seen it before? And if it is indeed polish, why is there an American Flag in the background...? Really odd.

Steam Tank:
http://www.d-daytanks.org.uk/articles/flame-throwing.html
I have never seen the picture of the Steam Tank shown on that website. Has anyone else? The caption says it is from the Tank Museum. Does anyone live near this Tank museum, and would be able to schedule a session with their archives? This entire site would be interested in obtaining high quality copies of ALL photos relating to the obscure USA WWI tanks. The Skeleton Tank, 3 Wheel Tank, and Steam Tank.

Finnish Armored Trains 1918:

Bunch of neat photos:

Polish Armored WWI Trains:

Oh, check this site out!!! Bookmark it, and check out Every Single Picture. You will be rewarded! Tons of extremely interesting stuff.

Those A7V-U pictures could explain the second Hedi. The pictures show 2 different A7V-U's. The first and third pics have an opening for a door on the side of the hull that is not on 524. Also, the chassis number visible in the third image is 523. Any ideas where these photos came from?

I'll have to add to the voisces of praise here... excellent submissions!  My favorites are a pics I hadn't seen before; two rare ones of the 38cm Lange Max, Baterrie WilliamII, French AA guns in Macedonia (Army of the Orient),  and the Brit GS wagon loaded with a damaged 4.5inch field howitzer.  Thank you !!

Another website. The site seems to go down intermittently, but it always comes back up. If you cannot connect, try again.

Lots of pictures you have seen before... And some you haven't.

http://wwi.sbn.bz/tank2/tank2.htm

Check it out... Pic I have never seen of the Fiat 2000.
http://titanik.sbn.bz/tank2/41.jpg

Poor ol' FCM-2C... Hole blown all the way through it!!! I wonder if that supports Frances claim that they blew them up themselves, or the Germans claim of knocking them out by aircraft?
http://titanik.sbn.bz/tank2/60.jpg

Allied Cars Under German Control. Freikorps I am guessing. Extremely cool! That skull seems to be uniform among all the vehicles. Exactly the same. Was that the semi-official symbol of the freikorps? It's not just any skull & crossbones, it is easily recognized.
http://titanik.sbn.bz/germ/04.jpg

Mk.III? Mk.III What? Was this a one-off Freikorps armored car?
http://titanik.sbn.bz/germ/14.jpg
http://titanik.sbn.bz/germ/16.jpg

This can't be normal. What armored car is this? It resembles an Austin... But with double Rolls Royce turrets...? What the heck? And it is Kokampf 119, part of Abteilung 1. That has to be significant.
http://titanik.sbn.bz/germ/03.jpg

Heres the website to the "Armored Cars Under German Control" page. As the entire site is in russian, it might take you a few minutes to find it otherwise.
http://titanik.sbn.bz/germ/page_01.htm

Enjoy! And comment! What do you think? The armored cars under german control is DEFINITELY the most significant section in my oppinion. I had never seen ANY of those pictures!

P.S. Check this out too...

"Heavy French tractor used to tow captured tanks to the rear. Boullonville, Neurthe et Mosselle, France, October 29th, 1918."

That was Tank Page 2, of this site:
http://wwi.sbn.bz/index.htm

Here is Tank Page 1:
http://wwi.sbn.bz/tank/tank1.htm

Most of it is fairly uninteresting.. Maybe a few pics you have not seen... Except these:

St. Chamond production! You'll never find better pictures that show off the interior of a St. Chamond!
http://titanik.sbn.bz/tank2/11.jpg
http://titanik.sbn.bz/tank2/13.jpg
http://titanik.sbn.bz/tank2/12.jpg

Fairly insignificant, but still cool, Mk.V production, with a Ridardo Engine assembly line.
http://titanik.sbn.bz/tank2/5.jpg
http://titanik.sbn.bz/tank2/ric.jpg

Cool eh?

I was just going through my books and I decided to scan some images I hadn't seen online before.

"Scene of the first German tank attack. German A7V's in the field before Amiens, throwing up clouds of chalk dust." I had never seen this picture, and I'd love to get my hands on a REALLY high quality version of it.
(The picture is REALLY big in my book, and as such would NOT scan properly using Descreen software, so I was forced to blurr the hell out of it, re-sharpen it, re-save it. There isn't that much detail loss.. The picture in the book is quite low quality too)
http://s1.simpload.com/11224383b77d0a479.jpeg

A Freikorps Marienwagon II halftrack in action around January 1919.
http://s1.simpload.com/11224383b8d338aa3.jpeg

Two Heidi images, im sure you've seen them before.

http://s1.simpload.com/11224383b94e0082e.jpeg
http://s1.simpload.com/11224383b9b92521e.jpeg

Notice the guy in the first pic, who's standing the highest? German helmet, leather coat with double-rows of buttons? The SAME guy is in the second pic. That must mean that Heidi had a fairly fixed crew. That's interesting!

Sorry for the big pics! I HATE dot-printed pictures. I hate them I hate them! Even De-Screening software can't get them to look right. How do you guys scan your book pics???

Great shot- couple of minor comments:

Re Polish armoured car If you peer at the murky image of the building from which rhe stars and stripes are flying there seems to be some plate by the door so it could be a US consulate building in Poland

The bicycle wheel was an attempt to save rubber in wartime but proved too expensive and heavy. In Holland Anthony Fokker had tried to develop a similar wheel for cars before WW1 (and before he concentrated on aircraft). The idea workd but tended to disintegrate at any speed.

Knew I had these A7V-U shots sitting around the hard drive. Here they be.....

The three original photos from earlier in the thread plus three others that were available before the site went AWOL.

P.S.: My post earlier on in this thread is incorrect. The door I thought was different does exist on 524.
