Rolls Royce armoured car colours?

As you can guess by my other post (regarding Fiats in the desert), i'm reading 'Steel Chariots in the desert' by SC Rolls, a Rolls Royce armoured car Driver with the Duke of Westminster's Squadron, and later driving a Rolls Royce tender (his earlier armoured car de-armoured) with Lawrence of Arabia's forces. He describes the armoured car unit and tenders racing across the desert as looking like 'grey torpedoes'. There is no other mention so far in the book, and i'm near the end (the quote is set in 1918) regarding the colour of the cars, and wasn't sure if they would be grey left over from when they were built, or a desert yellow. Also, one of the Rolls Royce tenders was called 'Grey Knight', so perhaps they were grey in the desert?

Rob,,

You may find something on this Picasa page, ( it makes interesting viewing anyway).

A lot of the images are familiar and have been around for some time but colour has been added to some of them, which I find very interesting.

Also some new images, in particular a few good quality images of  a Greek Peerless armoured lorry.

I’m finishing up a Meng Rolls Royce and adding dual tires to the front axel per photos of these with Lawrence of Arabia.  Unfortunately the url posts is no longer active but I’m assuming from the original text that the RR were gray.  If there’s newer documentation I’d appreciate hearing about it.
