Looking at buying a Retrokit Schneider CA, but can't decide which of the three versions to buy - can anyone help out with when each version was introduced? The first version is obvious, but when did the 1st armoured upgrade and 2nd armoured upgrade enter service? Many thanks, Rob

Bonsoir,

First upgrade of 128 Schneider Ca1 was done before April 16, 1917 of Juvincourt's fight :

              - ad-armor against 7,92 K cartridge.

Second upgrade of Schneider Ca1 was done after this fight with :

             - door on left side,

             - fuel tanks on rear.

After that, all Schneider Ca1 M1 were in M2 model, and tanks coming from factory

Schneider Ca1 M1 in the army were upgraded in Champlieu, or in Cercottes and not return in factory for that.

In December 19th, 1917, 372 Schneider Ca 1 (on 400) were built and arrived in the Artillerie Spéciale.

In 1918, all the Schneider Ca1 (except some training models) was from Model 2

Bonne maquette - Michel

Thank you - so Schneider CA1 second upgrade is the model for most of the war, mid-1917 until November 1918?

I love the wind vane on your profile photo!

Thanks, Rob
