Unless I am very much mistaken, that's a forum issue, Wayne, not a Landships issue. To change where the "Back to Landships" button goes needs a full-moderator. Unfortunately, me and Rectalgia are only semi-mods.

Charlie,

When I click on the "Back to Landships" menu item it takes me back to the original Landships website; note the URL in the lower left corner of the screenshot.

Yes, that's a table item in the page code of the forum, presumably accessed for editing through the administrator control panel to which (maybe) our moderator has some access - I have the impression that he does have access, going by some of the magic he has pulled off in the past.

I also have been unable to find any trace of him inside or outside the forum for quite some time (and his last log-in access to the forum is shown as "Sep 23, 2011"). Very concerning, hope it is only an incidence of gafiation.cry

For me the forum opens in a new window, so there is no need to use the "Back to Landships" button; is it a problem that needs fixing? An adjustment to your browser settings may circumvent the problem, Wayne.

I can get to the forum OK, but when I try to navigate to the LandshipsII home page, the link takes me to the old website.

I realise that; what I tried to say is that if your browser is set to open the forum in a new window, then the Landships II home page will still be there in the window underneath - so you can return to it by minimizing or closing the forum window as necessary.

Unfortunately, we're stuck for the nonce with what we've got and we each need to adjust our browsing habits accordingly (including bookmarking the Landships II site).

There's a neat way to set up one's computer to automagically re-direct/alias from a domain (such as the old landships.freeservers.com linked in the "Back to Landships") to any other "internet address" (IP address) but unfortunately the new Landships II (www.landships.info) doesn't have its own internet address - it shares it (46.235.44.34) with six other domains - deusex3.nl, iwhisper.nl, johnmartyn.info, oxfordtie.com, spaansehonden.info and thepass.info - so a connection request to the 46.235.44.34 IP address is met only by the generic "Default PLESK Page" which says, in effect, "you can't get there from here - or from anywhere else you can get to from here".

Just as well probably, I think most here probably not relish the job of successfully editing their "hosts" file (or even of finding it) and, change computers, you have to do it all again. Still, the Default PLESK Page could be a little more outgoing, links to the seven hosted domains would be nice (what would it cost them?) ... but no. I'm sure they have their reasons.
