Thanks everyone for the help. The piece is not going to be for sale. The estimated value figure was for internal City records. If any wants I can supply pictures and a background about the piece. The quick story: The howitzer piece was received by the local Legion group from the Federal Government. The piece ended up being larger then they anticipated and they in return gifted it to the City.

I am interested in finding out an estimated value on a Krupp 21 cm Mörser 10.

I currently work for a municipality who has one on display in a City Park.  I am responsible for drafting a report on the status of all park memorials and an estimated value for insurance purposes.  If anyone knows of one of these pieces being sold in the last 10 years that would be extremely helpful.  I know this all depends on state of condition of piece, but right now I am just trying to determine a vague number.

Any information would be great.

Thank You.

Priceless, i'd say! These guns are fairly rare, i'm aware of two in the United Kingdom, but then again we scrapped most of our 'trophy guns'. A good contact would be Ralph Lovett, you can find his contact details on his website here;

There was a 21cm sold in Australia in 2010 where the asking price was $A30,000. However, the Morser was unrestored, but probably

restorable, it had been acquired by a private collector from a local town council because they didn't want/afford to make it safe for

continued public display. The Morser was sold to the Jackson collection in New Zealand. I'd think a Morser in good condition would be

worth >$A50,000.

Regards,

Charlie

Although the 21cm MRS 1910 L/12 is at the top of my wanted list, I would say it has limited appeal in the US market.  The value would also be affected by its condition, restoration level or lack of restoration and quite importantly its registration (or whether it has been de-militarized by ATF regulations). In the USA, I would expect the value of a 21cm MRS L/12 to be well under $20,000 USD assuming it is unrestored, and unregistered.  The asking price of a piece and what they really sell at can be quite different.

I had responed in a private email about this question earlier but wanted to make the response availible for the group.

Ralph

Of course, if the artillery piece is in the US, one should check to see if it is federal government property on loan to the city before contemplating sale. The place to ask for its value, again if the piece is on the US, may be the US Army Center for Military History which maintains the Army's collection of captured enemy war material.

I'd be interested in seeing some pictures and reading the background. I'm sure I'm not the only one interested.
